Former socialite, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, says that her mental health issues are still causing problems for her, even though she's now over her drug addiction.

According to independent.co.uk, Tara spoke out about her issues on this morning's 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' (June 10). She admits that she's only been out of her house three times this year and her anxiety means she hasn't worked for two years.

"I've seen a therapist every single week for the last nine, ten years of my life," she explains.

At the height of her drug addiction, she overdosed on cocaine, which almost caused her heart to stop. She doesn't remember much about the experience, apart from praying, crawling towards her phone to make a call and then waking up at the hospital, reports digitalspy.co.uk.

She says her addiction caused her to become a devious and deceitful person, as she experienced psychotic episodes.

Eventually, her family sent her to a £35,000 rehabilitation centre in Arizona, but even on the plane there, she got drunk.

"When I came out, I felt healthier, happier, I'd gained weight," she says. "It was during that time in rehab that I thought: 'I really want to change my life, I don't want to live in the chaos anymore.'"

She adds that drugs scare her now and that she has no desire to take them ever again.
