Global pop sensation Lady Gaga has revealed how depression made her feel like giving up on life towards the end of 2013, reports digitalspy.co.uk.
Last year was one of the singer's best yet in terms of earnings, with this largely owed to strong sales of her third studio album 'Artpop' and a string of hit singles.
Yet Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, claimed that her commercial success did nothing to prevent her from becoming "very depressed" and fearing for her own life at the tail end of 2013.
The star, who turned 27 last year, said the depression came as a result of being taken advantage of by people close to her.
"I couldn't even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go," she told the March edition of Harper's Bazaar.
Gaga said she would often wake up crying until one morning, after waking up on New Year's Day, she made a pact to do something about her issues.
"I said to myself, 'Whatever is left in there, even just one light molecule, you will find it and make it multiply. You have to for you. You have to for your music. You have to for your fans and your family.'"
Dailymail.co.uk says Gaga is in a much more stable condition and that she intends to be remembered as a 'brave'. The singer has also vowed to be more wary of hangers-on.
