The Chrysalis Level 5 Certificate in Working With Children and Young People

During the week -3 days (1 +2)

GLH: 24, TQT: 150, Credits: 15

The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to achieve an introductory qualification that equips them with skills, knowledge and understanding that enables them to embark on practice with the client group (children and young people aged 5 to 25) as part of an organised clinically supervised placement that is adjunct to another qualification leading to professional registration as a counsellor. Alternatively, learners can use this qualification to progress on to the King's Trust Level 5 specialist Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People.

The course is designed as an introduction to working with children and young people. This course is also the first component of the two-year Level 6 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. On this course Learners will be introduced to the main theories about the developmental stages of childhood and adolescence. You will learn how to apply therapeutic models to practice. The ethical practice when working with children and young people. You will also be using play and creativity to develop the counselling relationship and process

The fee is £675 plus King's Trust Registration of £60 - payable upon enrolment.

Who can apply:

Qualified Counsellors with a Level 5 Ofqual qualification. Also, students at year 3 of the Chrysalis Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (or students who are at the final module of their year 2 studies who intend to progress to year 3) and who intend to work on placement with children and young people for their year 3 studies.

Assessment:

One 3000 word written assignment.
