Sophie Gifford

MNCPS Accred

For over a decade, Sophie has specialised their career within the not-for-profit sector, supporting adult’s that have been victimised by others, particularly in relation to childhood sexual abuse, domestic abuse and sexual abuse. Holding a Msc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in which the main modalities focused on Person-Centred, Cognitive Behaviour and Attachment Therapy. By incorporating their integrative roots, expanding and widening their approaches through a trauma-informed and compassion focused therapy lens.

She believes in providing a bespoke, non-judgemental, and collaborative therapeutic experience. Considering counselling to be a place where people can find their voice, feel heard and be understood. Feeling that this attentive approach allows those impacted by trauma to explore their experiences freely, empowering them to find clarity and helping them to live a life more fully, with a greater sense of meaning, safety, connection and purpose.

In the past, Sophie has volunteered with Victim Support and has over the years gone onto develop and oversee trauma-informed therapeutic services in sexual and domestic abuse charities as a service manager. Being involved for several years in supporting and inspiring professionals, services and wider organisations to safeguard, prevent and respond to sexual and domestic abuse appropriately with dignity, respect and empathy. In addition to this, Sophie has a private practice, working with predominantly trauma-focused charities across the country to provide counselling, psychotherapy, consultancy and training.

Sophie has a passion for learning and sharing new skills with others, as they believe that to bring real change, it starts from education and training. Therefore, they work with charities and organisations delivering bespoke training. As they respect the fact that we are all, regardless of background are constantly learning and that this needs to continually be attended to, hence they have a strong dedication to CPD, personal development and reflection.
