Julie Wan

Prior to working in the Psychotherapy room, Julie had a background of two decades teaching young people, and later on adults, in Education and Workshops in wellbeing through Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness practices. Julie was originally trained at the University of Brighton on the MSc. course obtaining a PgDip in Humanistic Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Whilst growing her Psychotherapeutic work with adults, Julie went on to further train and qualify working to work with Young People in the therapy room too; and continued to develop her skills in Play Therapy with her clients and more recently in Ecotherapy (taking therapy into nature). Julie is passionate about both teaching and learning, and finds both interweave together beautifully.

Alongside her thriving private practice with Adults and Young People, Julie currently continues to develop her understanding of this privileged line of work with the guidance of Professor Ernesto Spinelli in his Advanced Existential Supervision Group which feeds into a keen interest in the relationship between culture, society, and the individual.

To sum up, Julie was originally trained in the branch of Humanistic Theory and Principles through an existential lens, and works to integrate her growing knowledge from this Person-Centred base. She has an interest in what's happened to each of us, how we make meaning of it, and then how we connect and relate both in a therapy room and beyond. Her background in body-and-mind practices brings a curiosity into how we can connect more deeply to what is happening on levels not always ordinarily acknowledged. Julie feels this can integrate really well in the therapy room and with ‘the unspoken aspects’ of ourselves, and as backed up in the current world of neuroscience.
